Get the Yum! Five Popular Pirate Party Ideas

For as long as I can remember - all the way back into Beta! - I've never heard of a party that's gone unloved in Pirate101. I even feel that one of the strongest points in the community is that we just know how to get together and have a good time. Thinking of setting up something fun but don't know what? Wondering what kinds of gatherings are gaining popularity? Check it out!

1) Farming Opportunities

This one is a no-brainer. One of the best things about Pirate101, some say, is that there's so much to farm for once someone is fully leveled. Really, there's a gear set that's perfect for everyone, in my opinion - I've got my obnoxious stovepipe paired with a not-so-classico fencer's sword and modern sparkshooter. I farmed for the hat and for many of the items stitched to my outfit. It's a great thing to do with friends and has recently been all the rage in the party-sphere. With the new Spring 2014 updates, groups of pirates searching for Group Plunder Chests also roam the realms and cash in for the ultimate in-game prizes.

2) Messageboards Gatherings

Oh, gosh. How long have these been going on? Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend many messageboards gatherings since one of the first. Started by the folks on the Pirate101 Official Messageboards - a very caring and tightly-knit community - the messageboards gatherings have always been ones of large following, featuring house tours, PvP, and tables of food from the farthest reaches of the attendees' imaginations!

3) PvP Tournaments

I'll admit right away that I'm not very good at PvP. I love to give it a try every now and then, but Dead-eye won't be facing battleboard fame any time soon. Reason #14 of Why I Created a Musk With that, however, I'm always game for a PvP tournament! With an app for placement, setting things up can be simple. I find this very effective through Twitter where people can respond to a posting to sign themselves up. I've done a couple of 'Saturday Showdowns' and have had a good lot of fun with them.

4) NXP Parties

Started by the marvelous Autumn DreamWalker (we miss you!), NXP Parties feature pirates getting together in the skies, shooting down ships everywhere. This is a chance for those under the normal Nautical Level (*raises hand*) to catch up a little bit. One worry is that, with the Spring 2014 updates, NXP parties may be less common since companions can give a major boost. However, the social plus of getting together to do what pirates do best is always something I look forward to.

5) Any Good Surprise

A few weeks ago, I found myself in the right position to put together a very exciting surprise for my good friend Swordroll. As his blogoversary was coming up, I began shooting messages around the community to put together a surprise party for him on the night of. It took quite a bit of coordination, but the end result was amazing. Thanks to Chrissy the Blesser, a nice group of friends was able to hide out while I led Swordroll into the party, followed by a large, "SURPRISE!" and a little PvP following. From this I learned that some of the best parties come with an extra ounce of preparation.

These are five of many, many ways to spend time with friends in Pirate101 and take up only a fraction of the party possibilities that good friends can achieve. They are a key portion of pirate culture, especially in the community, and I can't wait to see what people come up with next!

Have an idea or an anecdote? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks to Cass Lifeblossom, Chrissy the Blesser, Evan Silver, Swordroll, Merciless Morgrim (Cret92) and many others for either starring in or submitting these photos; ultimately, just attending the parties. :)
