Are We Human, or Are We Pirates?

Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer?

One smart Youtuber suggested that by human, the Killers meant "innovators" and that dancer meant that we didn't change but were content with it. Is humanity as we know it to push forward and learn things new, or will we be content with our lives now, and never strive for more?
While this blog isn't for interpreting song lyrics, nor is it for IRL theorycrafting, there is a way that this song can teach the same lesson.

Pirate with a Heart of Gold - This was the base idea behind our pirates, from common belief and talk. Though we be pirates, we're all fighting for our perception of good. Are we human, a breed that generally look out for one another, or are we only pirates fighting for themselves alone? KingsIsle has perfectly mixed the two, prompting us to create gifted fighters that come to the aid of others. Let's take a look.

Alright, we stab, smash, shoot, slash and use staves to attack our enemies. We pirates fire cannons, track down rivals, and fight with no mercy, yet for the aid of others. It's truly mind-boggling how we can merge the two lifestyles - helping yet hurting, bringing piece through violence - not my choice of action, but it's the only way to get things done in our Spiral. However, have you ever doubted the actions of Avery? You ought Fin Dorsal and chased him around for a side quest, just because he stole something of Avery's again. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you weren't the only pirate avenging for their parents (in the storyline) and trying to take out the Armada? Why as pirates we "choose" to put our lives on the line over living normal lives where you can easily avoid the clockworks, is the work of avenging, the product of tragedy and promise, thus we earn our heart of gold and maybe a few experience points.

Finding the Balance

When you cross violence with vengeance and present it to possibly younger children, you're presented with a risky situation. While swords draw blood and gunshots (whether by bullet or by Pirate101 spark) hurt, it is impossible to truly express the anguish of battle. Might you see a little blood drawn, and might I write gunshot reactions, it is what we must portray to get our message across. Are we truly preserving innocence, or are we trying to achieve balance?

Are we human? Are we those who share and seek companionship?
Are we pirates? Are we the ruthless ones of stories, are we the maritime thieves threatening well-being?

In conclusion, this is why I'm not a sorcerer.

Keep Traveling!

Are we human, or are we pirates?
Flying skyway pull for lust of gold
Yet, we're on our knees
Fighting for an answer -
Are we human, or are we pirates?
